What to Expect During Your Upcycling Consultation

Hey there! We're thrilled to have you on board for an upcycling journey. Transforming your cherished garments into something new and wearable is an exciting experiencef, and we want you to know exactly what to expect. Here’s a peek into the process from your perspective:

The Initial Consultation

When you arrive, I want you to feel right at home and ready for a creative adventure. First and most important, we’ll chat about each of your garments – the memories tied to them and any special details you want to keep. This helps us understand the sentimental value and what’s important to you.

Checking Out the Clothes

Next, we’ll take a close look at your three garments. We’ll assess their condition, fabric quality, and potential for transformation. This is also the time for you to share your style preferences and any ideas you have for the new designs.

At this point, we will establish boundaries with the garment. We will discuss how far you want to go with manipulating the garment. You will tell us the level of transformation and alteration you allow us to go. For example, you want to keep the garment's integrity and introduce a few manipulations by sewing and attaching parts, or you want to be more experimental and allow us to cut and disassemble the garment parts, and reassemble them in a new pattern. You are in control and we must keep your emotional connection with the garment intact.

Brainstorming and Sketching

With your input in mind, we’ll start brainstorming and sketching some design ideas. This part is all about collaboration – we want to create something that fits your taste and style perfectly. We’ll refine the sketches based on your feedback until we have a final design that you love. I will suggest setting the boundaries of your ideas and being open to new shapes and styles.

The Transformation Process

Once the designs are finalized, we’ll move on to the fun part: transforming your garments following your suggested boundaries. We’ll carefully disassemble them, if we are allowed to do this, preserving any elements you want to keep. Using zero-waste techniques, we’ll create new patterns and start sewing your new pieces. Throughout this process, we focus on craftsmanship and detail to ensure high-quality results.

Fitting Session

After we’ve sewn the new garments, we’ll schedule a fitting session. This is where you get to try on your new clothes and see how they look and feel. We’ll make any necessary adjustments to ensure a perfect fit.

Adding the Final Touches

With the fit perfected, we’ll add any final touches to personalize your garments. This could include further alteration, any embroidery, unique trims, or other special details that make your new pieces truly one-of-a-kind.

The Big Reveal

The most exciting part is when you come around to try the finished garments! We’ll also brainstorm with you some styling ideas on how to incorporate these new pieces into your existing wardrobe. Seeing your reaction to the new creations is the highlight of our process.

Follow-Up

We’ll check in with you after a few weeks to see how you’re enjoying your new clothes. We would love to understand the impact the upcycled garment has had on you. We want to know if you are wearing it every day and the most important thing is if you love them more than before.

Why Upcycling Matters

Upcycling is a fantastic way to give your old clothes a new life while honoring their sentimental value. It’s sustainable and creative, and results in unique, personalized fashion that tells a story. We’re so excited to help you create something beautiful and meaningful from your cherished garments.

We can’t wait to get started on this creative journey with you. See you soon!
